Assistant Commercial Manager

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Commercial Manager  with a pre-contract bias to support our exciting growth plans working with our key clients. The Commercial Engineer will support the successful delivery of our clients capital projects and programmes of work.

The Commercial Engineer will be joining an established team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and growth. The Commercial Engineer will provide a comprehensive accurate and value-driven service for large high-profile and exciting key clients.

The role will cover all aspects of commercial management throughout the whole project lifecycle from initial inception / business case through to completion alongside supporting the project management team for grouplevel reporting and stakeholder coordination.

Duties include (but not limited to):

• Deliver all aspects of commercial management from the early stages of a project.
• Drive performance standards and technical excellence through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process and EGIS Group technical practice networks.
• Prepare detailed cost forecasts and budget reports analyzing variances and identifying trends to support financial decision-making.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to estimate project costs including external sub consultancy services and overheads.
• Prepare internal and external sub-consultancy agreements and collaborate with Project managers legal team and commercial teams through to full execution.
• Conduct Egis due diligence before onboarding sub-consultants and verify that all necessary insurance policies are valid and in effect.
• Initiate and prepare change request forms collaborating with Project Managers and the Design team to ensure all inputs are accurate and complete.
• Prepare Variation orders documents as per each clients change management procedures.
• Support quality assurance and quality control reviews of team deliverables to maintain consistency and accuracy.
• Prepare variation orders for internal and external subconsultants following approval of project variations.
• Maintain and update a Master variation tracker for both ongoing and legacy projects.
• Contribute to grouplevel reporting and presentation development to support management and stakeholder requirements.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of CRM tools with a proactive and willing approach to learning new systems.
• Lead the development and maintenance of subconsultant variation trackers aligned with approved project variations.
• Ensure complete and auditable records of all commercial documentation by maintaining accurate filing strategy.
• Implement cost control measures and monitor project expenditures addressing any issues that could lead to budget overruns.
• Review and endorse invoices and claims from external and internal suppliers ensuring all charges are accurate and justified.
• Experience of undertaking cost/commercial management as part of integrated multi-organization collaborative teams is preferred.

• Good working knowledge of FIDIC contracts and familiarity with project management processes.

• Conduct post-project financial audits to assess cost management performance and identify lessons learned for future projects.

Qualifications :

Key Qualifications:

1. Education: A degree in accounting finance engineering or a related field is required. 
2. Experience: 8 years of experience in cost and commercial management in the real estate sector.
3. Skills: Strong analytical and negotiation skills. Proficiency in cost commercial and finance management systems.
4. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage and lead teams effectively.
5. Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel PowerPoint and Word.  Experience in Power BI CRM tools and Oracle systems or a strong willingness to further develop system proficiency.
