Sewerage Plant Operator
Job Summary
Job Description
Operate monitor and maintain sewerage treatment plant systems including pumps blowers valves tanks pipelines filters and related electromechanical equipment to ensure continuous and safe plant operations.
Monitor plant performance through control panels gauges meters alarms and routine inspections and record operating data such as flow rates pressure chemical dosing sludge levels and equipment status.
Start up shut down and regulate treatment processes to maintain required operating parameters and support compliance with internal quality environmental and safety standards.
Conduct routine plant housekeeping cleaning lubrication minor troubleshooting and first-line preventive maintenance while escalating faults or abnormal conditions to the supervisor or maintenance team.
Collect wastewater sludge and treated water samples as required and support testing reporting and process adjustments based on operational needs.
Ensure proper handling and dosing of treatment chemicals and safe disposal or transfer of sludge and waste materials in line with approved procedures.
Respond quickly to plant emergencies breakdowns leaks blockages overflow risks and alarm conditions to minimize disruption and protect health safety and the environment.
Coordinate with maintenance HSE and operations teams during inspections shutdowns audits and repairs and maintain accurate daily logbooks and shift handover notes.
Requirements
Diploma ITI or technical certification in mechanical electrical environmental water treatment or a related field.
2 to 5 years of experience in sewerage treatment plants wastewater treatment plants water utilities or similar process operations.
Practical knowledge of pumps motors blowers valves chlorination or chemical dosing systems sludge handling and basic process control.
Ability to read gauges meters checklists and operating instructions and maintain accurate records and shift reports.
Familiarity with workplace safety procedures confined space awareness PPE use and safe chemical handling.
Physically fit and willing to work in shifts outdoors and in plant operating environments.
Basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to respond calmly to alarms breakdowns and emergency situations.
GCC or UAE experience is preferred.
