Overview
As a Resident Engineer Civil (Substations) you will be responsible for leading and supervising all civil works associated with substation construction projects. You will ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with design specifications quality standards safety regulations and project timelines. Acting as the key on-site representative you will coordinate with contractors consultants and stakeholders to ensure efficient execution and successful completion of high-voltage substation projects.
Your role
- Lead and supervise civil construction activities for substation projects including foundations control buildings cable trenches and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure all works are executed in compliance with approved drawings specifications and international/local standards.
- Monitor contractor performance quality of work and adherence to project schedules.
- Review and approve contractor submissions including method statements shop drawings material submittals and work procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with health safety and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate with electrical mechanical and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of civil works.
- Act as the primary point of contact between client contractor and supervision team on-site.
- Manage and resolve technical issues site challenges and contractual matters.
- Maintain accurate documentation site records progress reports and correspondence.
- Lead site meetings progress reviews and report project status risks and mitigation measures.
- Oversee testing commissioning support and handover processes for civil components.
About you
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10 years of experience in civil engineering with significant experience in substation or power infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in managing and supervising large-scale substation construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and HSE standards.
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC BS ASTM) and GCC/UAE regulations is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication reporting and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools; knowledge of planning software (e.g. Primavera MS Project) is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site and travel within the region as required.
