Job Summary

The Legal Editor MENA is a specialist role at the centre of Thomson Reuters regional content strategy responsible for shaping high-quality legal intelligence across the Middle East and North Africa. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our platform reflects accurate comprehensive and up-to-date legal developments by sourcing and curating authoritative materials from across diverse jurisdictions.

Working with primary sources particularly official gazettes and other governmental publications the Legal Editor applies expert legal judgement to assess prioritise and develop content for a global audience of legal professionals. The role combines deep regional expertise with strong editorial discipline contributing not only to content acquisition but also to ongoing enhancement initiatives and stakeholder support.

About the Role

As a Legal Editor at Thomson Reuters you will:

  • Source and monitor legal materials across the MENA region with a focus on official gazettes legislation case law and regulatory content.
  • Evaluate and prioritise content using expert legal judgement to determine relevance and value for customers.
  • Decide which materials require English translation balancing importance demand and capacity.
  • Analyse Arabic-language legal texts with precision and classify content in line with platform standards.
  • Review and quality-check content (including translations) to ensure accuracy consistency and readiness for publication.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional legal developments to inform content decisions.
  • Contribute to content improvement projects and identify gaps or opportunities in coverage.
  • Support internal stakeholders and customers by responding to legal content queries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality timely MENA content.

About You

To be our Legal Editor you will likely have:

  • A degree from an accredited law school or equivalent relevant legal qualification essential.
  • Native Arabic speaker with full professional fluency in English essential.
  • Deep knowledge of Middle Eastern legal systems with particular familiarity with Civil Law principles as applied across the MENA region.
  • Understanding of the structure and publication of official legal materials (gazettes court reporting regulatory instruments) in one or more MENA jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional legal reading and analytical skills in Arabic with the ability to quickly assess the significance and relevance of complex legal documents.
  • Sound editorial judgement and decisiveness able to make quality prioritisation decisions confidently and at pace.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with well-developed proofreading skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities pivot quickly to address high-priority updates and maintain quality under pressure.
  • Self-starter with the initiative to work independently and the discipline to meet publishing schedules without close supervision.
  • Comfortable with digital research environments content management systems AI enhanced workflows and online legal research tools.
