Lake Norman Charter School strives to build a community where long-term relationships between students, teachers and parents enhance the learning process. We create an environment where each student is known well by his or her teachers and peers and is encouraged and challenged as an individual. Within our small, safe and friendly learning community, we expect standards of conduct appropriate both for an academic environment of high expectations and also to prepare our students for their future college of choice. Honor Code: In compliance with LNC’s mission to learn, lead and serve; all members of the LNC community are expected to display good manners, show respect for others and their property, be honest, reliable and conform to the highest standards of behavior by following the LNC Honor Code. All LNC staff members are required to: Read and sign the LNC Employee Handbook. Support and promote the LNC Honor Code and follow all LNC policies, procedures and guidelines. Model and teach the values and expectations required of students and parents. Be fair, firm and consistent. Teach expectations and procedures. Recognitions: LNC has been awarded an “A” grade by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction every year since the school grading system was initiated. LNC is ranked in the top 3% of high schools nationwide and top 2% in Charlotte. We have been on the U.S. News & World Report rankings of the Best High Schools since 2016. LNC Middle School and LNC Elementary School are ranked in the top 1% in North Carolina (middle and elementary schools are ranked within their state only). LNC has been a Common Sense School since 2015. As a Common Sense School, we develop and facilitate seven 45-minute digital citizenship lessons per year for students in grades 5-7 and five 45-minute lessons for grade 8 for a total of 19.5 hours by the end of 8th grade. Topics include safety, screen time, information literacy, digital footprint, self-image, cyberbullying, hate speech, and relationships & communication. LNC earned this recognition based on the percentage of the students who took an AP exam, the percentage who earned a score of “3” or higher and the percentage who took 5 or more AP exams.
