Tunneling and Underground Structures Engineer

• Design and develop underground structures including cut and cover tunnels and stations utilizing industry-standard engineering software and methodologies
• Conduct geotechnical investigations and structural analysis to ensure safety and feasibility of tunneling projects
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings specifications and technical documentation for construction and stakeholder review
• Oversee site supervision and quality assurance during tunnel construction and underground structure installation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects contractors and project managers to ensure project objectives are met
• Develop and implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with applicable building codes regulations and industry standards
• Manage project timelines budgets and resources while maintaining quality standards
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for underground construction challenges
• Communicate project progress findings and recommendations to clients stakeholders and regulatory authorities
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in tunneling and underground construction engineering

Qualifications :

**Required Qualifications:**

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Geotechnical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in tunneling underground construction or related civil engineering projects
• Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD STAAD Pro PLAXIS or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles structural analysis and underground construction methodologies
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
• Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain licensure

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Masters degree in Civil Engineering Geotechnical Engineering or Tunneling Engineering
• 8 years of experience specifically in tunnel design and underground structure projects
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and advanced design software
• Familiarity with relevant building codes regulations and industry standards (ASCE OSHA local jurisdictional requirements)
• Project management certification (PMP) or equivalent
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholder communications
• Knowledge of emerging technologies and innovations in underground construction
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated risk assessment experience
