- Plan and optimize the routing and scheduling of LTL shipments to minimize transportation costs, ensure timely deliveries, and maximize resource utilization.
- Select, negotiate with, and manage carrier relationships. This includes maintaining a carrier network, negotiating rates and contracts, and monitoring carrier performance to ensure compliance with service level agreements.
- Coordinate the movement of multiple LTL shipments from different clients to ensure efficient consolidation and deconsolidation of freight, reducing empty miles, and optimizing load factors.
- Analyze freight costs, transportation rates, and other related expenses to identify opportunities for cost savings and cost-effectiveness in LTL operations.
- Communicate with clients to provide updates on shipment status, estimated delivery times, and address any transportation-related inquiries or concerns.
- Ensure all necessary documentation, such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, and customs paperwork, are accurately completed and maintained for each LTL shipment. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, transit times, carrier performance, and overall transportation efficiency. Take proactive measures to address any performance issues.
- Handle and resolve any transportation-related issues, such as delays, damages, and discrepancies, in a timely and effective manner. Collaborate with carriers, clients, and internal teams to find solutions.
- Utilise transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technology to optimize route planning, track shipments in real-time, and generate performance reports.
- Identify areas for process improvement within LTL operations, implement best practices, and develop strategies to enhance transportation efficiency and reduce costs.
