The BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) leverages BlackRocks expertise and produces proprietary research to provide insights on the global economy markets geopolitics and long-term asset allocation - all to help clients and portfolio managers navigate financial markets. We systematically leverage BlackRocks expertise in markets asset classes and client segments to help our portfolio managers deliver positive investment results for clients. Why is your role important

Reporting to the Head of Macro this economist will be a member of a small team globally responsible for conducting analysis of major economies and forming views about the future development of those economies. This role will focus primarily on the Middle East (ME) region and India but will also be expected to contribute to global analysis. The economic views formed by the team underpin asset allocations over both the tactical and strategic horizons that give Blackrocks clients the whole-portfolio perspective that they need today.

What will you be doing

• Providing credible macroeconomic forecasts and views for the Middle East region & India.

• Producing standalone content on key countries/areas and supporting the development and maintenance of both tactical and strategic investment views including capital market assumptions.

• Delivering high-quality macroeconomic insights working with senior local partners and ensuring alignment with global BII standards and practices.

• Identifying and producing impactful and timely macro analysis to inform investment platform debate and decisions.

• Tracking and analyzing policy and data developments of relevance to investors.

• Economic and financial modeling: developing applying analyzing and dissecting quantitative models.

• Participating in global client engagement engaging investors on global macro issues.

What are we looking for

• 5 years of experience in a market economist position in the financial services or policy-making sectors.

• Masters/PhD preferred. Strong background in macroeconomics and finance with substantial experience forecasting and analyzing economic trends. Intellectually curious and able to frame new issues for investors and clients.

• Graduate-level coursework or hands-on experience with artificial intelligence (AI) tools used in economic forecasting pricing models or scenario analysis.

• A credible thought leader and effective in both verbal and written communications.

• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally.

• Strong literacy in AI research with a focus on its applications and implications within economics.

• Ability to synthesize academic and industry research across machine learning automation and economic modeling and distill relevant insights for strategic decision-making.

• Familiarity with topics such as AI-driven productivity labor substitution economic competitiveness and policy risk.

• Experience applying AI and data-driven frameworks to solve complex economic or business problems.

• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint Excel Word); very strong statistical/econometric software skills are required. Python and other coding skills highly desirable.

Our hybrid work model
