Roles and responsibilities
As a Food and Beverage Host, you are responsible for seating guests and managing table set-ups to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. A Food and Beverage Host will also be required to work in all areas of Food and Beverage and strive to achieve departmental targets. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Welcome guests in a polite and friendly manner
- Coordinate seating for customers
- Up-sell with latest departmental incentives
- Manage table set-ups
- Able to work in all areas of Food and Beverage including Bar, Restaurant, Room Service and Conference and Events
- Follow cash handling procedures
- Manage guest queries in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure compliance of brand standards
- Strive to achieve departmental targets
- Ensure cleanliness of work areas
- Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation
- Comply with local licensing laws
- Be environmentally aware
- Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships

- Seating guests: Manage seating arrangements, ensuring guests are seated promptly according to their preferences and the restaurant's capacity.
- Personalized service: Provide guests with tailored experiences, noting special requests or preferences, such as dietary restrictions, to enhance their visit.
- Managing expectations: Keep guests informed about wait times, special offers, and any other relevant details, ensuring transparency and customer satisfaction.
- Handling complaints: Address any guest concerns or complaints calmly and professionally, ensuring resolution in a timely manner to maintain a positive experience.
Organizational and Coordination Skills
- Reservation management: Manage reservations, ensuring that the restaurant operates smoothly and efficiently by tracking guest bookings, cancellations, and special requests.
- Seating chart management: Maintain and manage an organized seating chart, taking into account guest preferences, party size, and availability to maximize the restaurant’s capacity and flow.
- Waitlist management: Efficiently manage waitlists during peak hours, prioritizing guests and making sure that they are seated as soon as tables become available.
- Scheduling coordination: Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure that guests are seated promptly and that their orders are processed quickly and accurately.
- Maintaining a smooth flow: Ensure that the dining area runs efficiently, coordinating with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to meet guest needs and minimize wait times.
