  • Point-of-Sale Systems: Understanding of how revenue from various departments (rooms, food & beverage, spa, etc.) is recorded in the hotel’s point-of-sale (POS) systems and ensuring the proper transfer of data to the general ledger.

4. Reconciliation Skills

  • Daily Revenue Reconciliation: Comparing the daily revenue reports with the actual cash, credit, or electronic transactions recorded, ensuring there are no errors or discrepancies.
  • Credit Card Reconciliation: Ensuring that all credit card transactions are reconciled and matched with bank statements and the hotel’s internal records.
  • Cash Control: Ensuring that cash transactions are accurately recorded and balanced, and investigating any cash shortages or discrepancies.

5. Reporting and Documentation

  • Daily Financial Reports: Preparing and generating daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, summarizing revenue and any discrepancies found during the audit process.

  • Documentation: Ensuring that all audit documentation is accurate, complete, and filed properly, in case of future reference or external audits.
  • Compliance Reporting: Preparing reports that demonstrate compliance with local tax laws, accounting regulations, and industry standards.

6. Fraud Prevention and Detection
