- Piping and Frosting Techniques: Mastery of piping techniques using different nozzles (e.g., for creating flowers, borders, or intricate designs) and smooth frosting application.
- Fondant Work: Proficiency in using fondant to cover cakes, create decorations, and shape figures (e.g., flowers, characters, ribbons).
- Royal Icing: Ability to use royal icing for detailed decorations, including intricate piping work, sugar flowers, and lace-like effects.
- Sugar Art: Knowledge of creating decorations from sugar paste, including sugar flowers, bows, ribbons, and figurines.
- Cake Airbrushing: Using airbrushing tools to create gradients, soft shading, or specific designs on cakes.
2. Creativity and Design
- Design Concepts: Understanding the principles of design, including color theory, symmetry, and composition, to create visually appealing cakes.
- Theme-Based Decor: Ability to design cakes that fit specific themes or occasions, such as weddings, holidays, or corporate branding.
- Personalization: Customizing cakes based on client preferences, including monograms, names, special messages, or unique decorations.

6. Knowledge of Cake Materials and Tools
- Frosting and Fillings: Proficiency in making a variety of frosting types (e.g., buttercream, ganache, cream cheese frosting) and fillings (e.g., fruit, mousse, custard) to complement the cake’s flavor and decoration.
- Tools and Equipment: Familiarity with a variety of tools used for decorating cakes, including piping bags, spatulas, turntables, cake sers, and cutters.

- Decorating regular bakery items according to established bakery standards.
- Assisting baking staff with the production of standard bakery items.
- Producing different kinds of icing, frosting, and cake fillings based on cake type and customer preferences.
- Ensuring that the display refrigerators are cleaned, polished, and fully stocked with cakes, pastries, and desserts.
- Taking inventory of baking and decorating supplies and ordering new stock as required.
- Cleaning and sanitizing all work areas and ovens as well as baking and decorating equipment..
