- Strategic Planning and : Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the mining division, ensuring alignment with the company's overall objectives and long-term goals.
- Business Development: Identify and explore new business opportunities, including exploration projects, joint ventures, and international market expansion.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee all aspects of the division’s operations, including exploration, extraction, and processing of copper and gold, ensuring efficiency and adherence to best practices.
- Budget and Financial Management: Develop and manage the division’s budget, financial forecasts, and investment plans. Monitor financial performance, implement cost-control measures, and ensure profitability.
- Performance Management: Set clear objectives and performance metrics for the division. Monitor progress, ensure targets are met or exceeded, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards. Maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies and manage permits and licenses.
- Sustainability and Environmental Management: Promote and implement sustainability initiatives and best practices in environmental management to minimize the division’s impact.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, government officials, local communities, and industry partners. Represent the division at industry events and public forums.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the senior management team and broader workforce within the division. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
- Talent Management: Oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies to ensure the division attracts and retains top talent.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess risks related to operations, market conditions, and regulatory changes. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the division’s assets and reputation.
- Crisis Management: Ensure business continuity and effective management of crisis situations.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you need to meet the following criteria:
- Proven experience in a senior management role within the mining industry, with a focus on copper and gold.
- Strong understanding of global mining operations, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial management, and operational leadership.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
