Traffic Signal Design Consultant - CDM Smith

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traffic Signal Design Consultant to join our dynamic team. As a Traffic Signal Design Consultant you will play a key role in designing and implementing effective traffic signal systems to enhance traffic flow improve safety and optimize transportation infrastructure. This role requires expertise in traffic engineering signal design and a deep understanding of regional standards and regulations. Responsibilities: Traffic Signal System Design: Lead the design and optimization of traffic signal systems for various transportation projects. Conduct thorough traffic analyses to determine signal timing phasing and coordination strategies. Develop signal plans specifications and construction details ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. Traffic Engineering Expertise: Provide expert advice on traffic engineering principles and practices. Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing traffic signal systems based on industry best practices and innovative technologies. Project Management: Manage and oversee traffic signal design projects from initiation to completion. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers planners and project managers to ensure successful project delivery. Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with local state and federal regulations related to traffic signal design. Ensure that all designs adhere to relevant safety standards and guidelines. Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their specific needs and objectives. Communicate effectively to convey technical concepts and project progress to clients and stakeholders. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of traffic signal designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Implement quality assurance processes to deliver highquality and reliable designs.

Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering Transportation Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. Proven experience in traffic signal system design and optimization. Strong proficiency in traffic engineering software and simulation tools. Familiarity with industry standards guidelines and regulatory requirements. Excellent project management and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 510 years of experience is required for this role.
