We are seeking an experienced Principal Technician specialising in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to perform and guide advanced inspection activities on aero engine components. This role supports shop operations mentors junior technicians assists engineers with technique selection and ensures the highest standards of safety compliance and inspection quality.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and Support NDT Inspections (60%)
Conduct complex NDT inspections using FPI MPI UT ET and related methods
Guide technicians on correct technique application and defect identification
Support engineers in maintaining inspection quality and efficiency
Assist in Technique Selection and Task Execution (25%)
Recommend appropriate testing techniques based on part type and criteria
Interpret inspection standards and provide practical input for unusual or borderline findings
Assist in adapting test instructions to meet operational requirements
Quality Compliance and Team Support (15%)
Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and in proper working condition
Promote safe practices and accurate documentation of inspection results
Provide on-the-job guidance to less experienced NDT personnel
Minimum Requirements
Associate vocational or technical qualification in Aviation Aeronautical Engineering MRO or related field
Bachelors degree preferred
PCN Level II certification in accordance with EN4179/NAS410 (or equivalent)
5 to 7 years of NDT experience in an aviation MRO environment
Experience guiding or mentoring junior NDT personnel
Key Competencies
Advanced hands-on skills in FPI MPI UT ET and related techniques
Strong judgement when evaluating deviations or borderline conditions
Proficiency using digital systems (e.g. SAP Q-Pulse) for inspection records
Strong understanding of NDT standards and consistent application across engine parts
Clear communication of inspection results updates and procedural changes
Ability to mentor and guide Level 2 technicians
Consistent adherence to regulatory and documentation standards
Ability to identify defects and escalate findings appropriately
Strong time management and ability to work within turnaround schedules
Adaptability to schedule changes new processes and evolving shop needs
High accuracy and attention to detail to ensure airworthiness and compliance
