About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Software Developer Team Lead to take ownership of an internally developed software platform that supports a broader product line. This is a hands-on leadership role for a self-starter who can guide a development team with minimal day-to-day direction while staying close to the code. The platform sits at the intersection of software hardware and building systems so the ideal candidate will be comfortable working across user interfaces device communication protocols and secure APIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mentor and coordinate a team of software developers setting technical direction and ensuring delivery to a high standard.
• Develop support and maintain the in-house software platform and its integration with the wider product line.
• Design and build rich user-friendly interfaces including HMI applications for distributed control systems.
• Develop software-to-hardware interfaces and implement communication protocols such as Modbus BACnet SNMP and MQTT.
• Build and maintain secure REST and SOAP APIs using TLS.
• Contribute to web server design and back-end development.
• Promote best practices in software design code quality and documentation across the team.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree.
• Minimum of five years experience in software development including at least two years as a software team lead.
• Strong Java development skills with hands-on experience of the Swing toolkit (essential).
• Solid understanding of software design principles and development best practices.
• Experience with rich UI development and HMI design for distributed control systems.
• Working knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu Fedora Linux Mint).
• Experience with REST and SOAP APIs TLS MQTT web server design and PHP.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and model training.
• Strong attention to detail excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.

Desirable

• Experience maintaining internally developed software that supports a broader product line.
• Apache and/or Tomcat server experience.
• Experience with BMS protocols such as Modbus BACnet and SNMP.
