What can you expect:

NEOM is one of the largest projects in the world it is a new urban area planned by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be built in its northwestern Tabuk Province. The site is northeast of the Red Sea east of Egypt across the Gulf of Aqaba and south of Jordan. The total planned area of Neom is over 25000 km2. The citys plans include multiple regions including a floating industrial complex global trade hub tourist resorts and a linear city powered by renewable energy sources. It is one of the most exciting and groundbreaking projects that has been attempted in the region (and across the world). Initial plans for the city were announced in 2017 by Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and it forms a key part of the Saudi Vision 2030 which plans to reduce Saudi Arabias dependence on oil diversify its economy and develop publicservice sectors.
Marsh are currently working with NEOM to support their insurance placement into the market and are also working closely with the lead Insurers and NEOM risk management team to deliver high quality risk engineering services for the project.
The intention of this role is to lead (alongside one other Engineer) the overall interaction between Marsh Risk Engineering and NEOM Insurance. The Engineer will be expected to fully manage the Risk Engineering program for NEOM and work closely with the client facing team (both in country and in London) to support a successful insurance program therefore the ability to communicate to all organizational levels is a critical competency.
While Marsh will provide some initial support with training on the job with other experienced engineers the candidate is expected to be selfstarting able to think of new ideas and solutions to problems and work independently.
The candidate is expected to run a bestinclass Risk Engineering program for NEOM develop tools technical notes and guidance to deliver a world class service to NEOM and the lead insurers on the program. Given the scope of this role and the seniority the technical ability will be assessed in an interview alongside the softer managerial skills that the candidate possesses. This is not an entry level role or one where the candidate needs huge amounts of training to start delivering.
Ultimately this is also a consultancy role and therefore the ability to promote Marsh Engineering services and develop new business would be a soughtafter capability.


We will rely on you to:

Oversee one of the largest Risk Engineering accounts and programs in the region.
Collaborate closely with other Engineers and Marsh leadership to ensure the program is of the highest quality and promote Marsh services across different sectors.
Manage the budget and revenue delivery for this account and potentially for others in the country as well.
Conduct construction risk engineering surveys which are essential for successful insurance placement in the construction industry. These surveys involve visiting project sites interviewing management teams and providing detailed engineering reports that include site descriptions project management processes loss prevention/mitigation features site quality rankings and recommendations for improvement.
Depending on the project timeline there may be a need to conduct preattachment or constructiontooperations surveys to support the operational broking team in placing insurance in the property markets. This includes identifying risks and mitigation strategies for the commissioning and early operation stages of a project.
Assist the Broking team in placing risks in international insurance markets.
Develop and implement Risk Engineering Management Systems specifically for NEOM.
Support the enhancement of Marshs analytical capabilities in assessing project risk quality making risk recommendations and identifying exposures.
Foster the growth and improvement of the Marsh Risk Engineering Practice by seeking ways to enhance client management work delivery and collaboration with other consultants to achieve the best outcomes for the business and clients.


What you need to have:

Strong knowledge of construction standards including construction codes fire testing NFPA standards and HSE standards.
Ability to identify and communicate risks to clients and propose suitable mitigations.
Experience in riskassessed decisionmaking.
Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
Ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for client delivery and business development.
Proficiency in general office systems such as Word Excel and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with software packages that enhance risk engineering offerings is desirable.
Experience with technical simulation packages for fire modeling risk assessment and project execution.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English including the ability to write detailed engineering reports.

Business Acumen:

Ability to articulate business goals and strategies.
Adherence to professional standards and best practices.


Client Development:

Ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
Utilization of spheres of influence to expand business.


Candidate Profile: Work Experience:

10 years of experience in an Engineering role within the construction industry or risk engineering.
Experience in managing risks in construction project management construction management or planning is highly desired.

Academic Background:

Engineering degree in Civil or Mechanical (or similar).
Chartership with a relevant institution is preferred but not essential.


Physical Requirements:

Based in NEOM.
Willingness to travel to the location regularly if not already based there.


What makes you stand out:

Experience in the insurance industry is beneficial.
Language skills for work in other countries such as North Africa and the Middle East (European languages and Arabic
