SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

THE PERSON

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as primary system administrator of Clarity s VoIP/Unified Communication systems to ensure maximum availability and reliability
  • Coordinates and assists in the completion of scheduled system maintenance activities.
  • Analyzes escalated customer trouble tickets, network alarms, and output messages and resolves complex platform and IP network issues
  • Serve as subject matter expert, last level of escalation and point of contact to infrastructure hardware vendor support channels
  • Investigates alarms down to root cause and performs necessary steps to complete repairs or dispatch appropriate personnel for resolutions
  • Publish network utilization and other performance measurements weekly.
  • Implement and monitor security standards across IP networks
  • Develop and maintain Network Operations standard operating procedures, design diagrams and asset lists.
  • Install, maintain, and monitor bare metal Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows servers in remote data center environments
  • Maintain and monitor virtual servers in AWS and Google Cloud
  • Conduct functional testing of software releases for core services platforms.
  • Maintain dial translations and carrier connections including interop testing, balancing LCR and mitigating PDD
  • Test and oversee network upgrades, testing, implementation of changes, and utilizing network management tools. Write reports defining associated risks to consider
  • Maintain relations and work directly with vendor companies, including telecommunication carriers, to resolve technical issues
  • Act as definitive escalation point for all Support cases requiring low-level analysis such as packet captures, switch/router/server reconfiguration, connectivity issues
  • Work with senior infrastructure architects on (geo redundant high availability, clustered SQL database, AWS infrastructure with Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code tools, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Remote or Hybrid work environment with normal business hours and after hours on-call responsibilities

*Willingness to travel to U.S. datacenters and Michigan home office as required.


REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor s degree in CS, IS or similar or equivalent related experience
  • 4+ years professional experience with Linux installation and administration
  • 2+ years professional experience working with TCP/IP Networking
  • Knowledge of scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell etc.)
  • Knowledge of Web Server Architecture including commons stacks like LAMP, LEMP, MERN etc.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in deploying and maintaining data networking and application services routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, load balancing platforms. Knowledge of Unified Communications including WebRTC, soft clients, architecture, and 3rd party integrations
  • Experience working in environments using virtualization/container (Docker, Kube)
  • Experience in integrating with third-party apps using APIs or connectors
  • Knowledge of Poly and Yealink provisioning
  • Knowledge in SIP messaging including isolation of issue to core, SBC, carrier, and or customer premise

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with cloud UCaaS platforms such as NetSapiens, BroadSoft, Asterisk, FreeSwitch
  • Knowledge of Unified Communications including WebRTC, soft clients, architecture, and 3rd party integrations
  • Knowledge of Poly and Yealink provisioning and ZTP
  • Experience with Ubuntu
  • Experience working with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code concepts
  • Experience as system administrator of cloud enterprise software platform
  • 1+ year experience working with VoIP technologies including SIP, RTP, RTCP, ISUP, TLS, STUN, TURN
  • Extensive experience with SIP and related protocols
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
