The successful candidate will be responsible for precision machining and repair of components such as shafts rotors sleeves impellers and casings used in pumps compressors turbines and other rotating machinery.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lathe Operator (Manual Horizontal & CNC Vertical) to join our rotating equipment repair workshop in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for precision machining and repair of components such as shafts rotors sleeves impellers and casings used in pumps compressors turbines and other rotating machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual horizontal and CNC vertical lathes for turning facing boring threading grinding and other machining operations.
- Perform repair and refurbishment of rotating equipment components and stator parts.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Knowledge of machine preparatory works like set up of tools and clamping systems.
- Ensure all machined parts meet required tolerances and surface finishes using precision measuring tools.
- Select appropriate cutting tools speeds feeds and fixtures for each job.
- Maintain and clean machines report any faults or maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with fitters welders and engineers on workshop repair activities.
- Follow all HSE (Health Safety and Environment) procedures and quality control standards.
- Complete job cards and maintain accurate machining records.
Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory Skills
- Technical Diploma / ITI Certificate in Machining Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 7-10 years of experience operating horizontal and vertical lathes in a mechanical or rotating equipment workshop.
- Skilled in machining carbon steel stainless steel and alloy materials.
- Strong knowledge of tolerances fits and finishing processes.
- Proficient in measuring instruments (micrometers vernier calipers dial indicators etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings accurately.
- Good communication teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Mandatory Skills
- Experience with rotating equipment (pumps compressors turbines).
- Wide knowledge of lathe operations .
- Nice to have familiarity with balancing and assembly processes.
- Prior experience in oil & gas power generation or industrial maintenance industries preferred.
Working Conditions
- Based at our Abu Dhabi workshop; occasional site work may be required.
- Workshop environment with machinery lubricants and noise exposure.
- PPE usage is mandatory.
- Overtime or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
