Summary

Incoming ISG Superintendent Rhonda Norris seeks a highlyskilled strategic finance professional with proven business office leadership experience to join ISG on August 1 2024 to serve as the Director of Finance beginning in the 202425 school year.

The Director of Finance will join a district leadership team that includes the Superintendent Directors Principals and site leadership team comprised of Assistant Principals grade level and department facilitators.

The Director of Finance will play a crucial role in guiding the financial strategy of ISG. Reporting directly to the Superintendent the successful candidate will oversee all financial activities ensure compliance with regulatory standards and provide strategic financial guidance to support ISGs mission and objectives.

Position Duties

The successful candidate will be able to effectively:

Child Protection

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans operating budgets and forecasts aligned with ISGs strategic goals.
  • Conduct and provide comprehensive financial analysis that includes trends of financial patterns to provide insights and make recommendations for decisionmaking.

Capital Budgeting

  • Identify potential capital investment projects that align with the organisations strategic objectives.
  • Utilize various capital budgeting techniques to assess the viability of projects and estimate the future cash inflows and outflows associated with each project and monitor through implementation.

Risk Management

  • Identify and assess financial risks implement mitigation strategies and ensure financial growth.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and international education trends affecting ISGs financial landscape.

Financial Reporting

  • Direct all financial accounting budgeting and reporting of internal business practices.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare an annual report for the Board of Trustees.
  • Maintain and supervise the Districts financial reporting systems including database systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data accuracy and consistency.

Compliance and Audit

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards legal requirements and government regulations.
  • Facilitate annual internal audits and coordinate with external auditors the annual independent audit of the financial records.

Resource Allocation

  • Optimize resource allocation to support educational programs and initiatives while maintaining financial sustainability and growth.
  • Provide strategic guidance on funding priorities and resource utilization.

Communication

  • Proactively communicate with the Superintendent District Office administrators and Board of Trustees about progress and challenges.
  • Proactively make recommendations to the Superintendent on improvements to make in the business operations and budget development.
  • Prepare and present monthly fiscal reports on ISGs financial operations.
  • Model open and honest communications throughout the school community.
  • Participate fully in senior leadership meetings at school and district levels.
  • Participate in Board of Trustees meetings and committees as requested.

Business Office Administration

  • Acquire and maintain an excellent working knowledge of ISGs organizational policies practices and procedures.
  • Review existing finance department operations and implement initiatives in accordance with current business practices.
  • Direct and supervise all business office operations including but not limited to: budgeting reporting auditing accounts receivable accounts payable payroll purchasing (vendor management) and property control.
  • Supervise the operation of all businessrelated operational information systems.
  • Assist the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees in the development and revision of financial policies.
  • Manage the district investment process.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor the finance team members fostering a culture of accountability professionalism and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team members financial acumen.
  • Set and hold finance department employees accountable to high standards for performance.
  • Fulfill the expectations of staff evaluation identified in district policies and regulations and assist in the successful improvement or release of nonperformers.

Liaising and Networking

  • Collaborate with and facilitate external consultants in support of the strategic goals.
  • Network with relevant professional organizations on behalf of ISG.
  • Contribute to finance department and district communications efforts including public relations as appropriate.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A masters degree in Accounting Business Economics Finance or related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
  • A depth of knowledge in accounting principles budgeting financial planning business office operations and reporting.
  • Knowledge of educational funding models and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of current trends in finance in an international school context.
  • Knowledge of current trends and financial resources available in technology.

Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience

  • Extensive experience in project capital budgeting for organizational growth.
  • Proven experience and demonstrated competency in financial leadership roles of a large and complex international education organization or notforprofit sector.
  • Proven track record in collaboratively leading change and implementing finance improvement initiatives.

Skills

  • Excellent analytical strategic thinking creative problemsolving solutionoriented and organization skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and develop and motivate team members.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible to the needs of stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to and cultural awareness of all stakeholders along with the ability to adapt work style to meet their needs
