The Role:
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Consultant Anaesthetists to join a purpose-built teaching Hospital in regional Victoria.

With the exciting new hospital extension almost complete, the hospital has several permanent Specialist Anaesthesiologist roles available with fractions up to and including full time.

The Anaesthetic Department provides a Preadmission Clinic, Acute Pain Service, and access to wide range of anaesthetic experience. Compared to a Metropolitan appointment you will have greater autonomy and responsibilities but with support when required, strong workplace relationships and mentorship for your professional development
 
You will be expected to provide anaesthetic services and co-operate with the other Anaesthetists to provide on-call services on an equitable basis.
 
Work towards the provision of best practice care to all patients in the context of current professional knowledge and organisational resources.
 
Provide clinical leadership and supervision/teaching for junior medical staff as well as other clinical staff.

The Department of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine has developed an innovative partnership with Alfred Health, a leading tertiary health service in Victoria with state-service responsibility in trauma, burns, and cardiothoracic transplant services (among others). This unique opportunity blends aspects of clinical experience across both health services – one a large tertiary centre and the other a major regional hospital. For the right candidate, this partnership has the scope to facilitate strong collaboration in research, education, and clinical practice. There is the potential for dual appointments by mutual agreement.
 
To be successful in this position you will need to have:

• Demonstrated clinical ability commensurate with that expected of an Anaesthetist.
•  Experience working at a senior level in a major hospital.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the Victorian Public Hospital system
• Demonstrated ability to be involved in change.
• Demonstrable interpersonal and negotiation skills at a high level
• Adherence to safe practice standards and policies
• High level decision-making ability
• Ability to further own professional development.

Hospital:
A specialist referral and trauma centre, a purpose-built teaching Hospital catering for a population of more than 250,000. The medical services offered at the Hospital elective surgery, emergency care, aged care, obstetrics, mental health, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and medical and radiation oncology.
 
It has 4 operating theatres and specialises in general surgery, orthopaedic, ophthalmology, gynaecology, and obstetrics as well as ear, nose and throat surgery and urology. The Anaesthesia department provides clinical anaesthesia to all major surgical specialties (except cardiac and neurosurgery).  As a teaching hospital it is affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and Federation University and provide placements and clinical experience for students.

Skills & Qualifications required:

• Significant experience working in a major hospital.
• A Bachelor of Medicine with eligibility for unrestricted registration as a specialist with AHPRA
• FANZCA or equivalent (and willingness to transition to FANZCA)
• An interest in Supervisor of Training, Perioperative Medicine, and Acute Pain leadership
