Jump-start your career in Data Engineering with Perituza Software Solutions! Perituza is a global software development and consulting company headquartered in Houston, Texas (USA), with development centers in Colombo, Sri Lanka and New Delhi, India.
We are looking for an intern who will automate and maintain data pipelines for optimal extraction, transformation, and data loading from various sources.
Approximately 80% of the internship role will be performed remotely; however, this position will require occasional travel to our office in Colombo 4.
This is a paid, six-month internship.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate data processing and aggregation methods
- Automate data extraction processes using scripting languages such as Python
- Validate extracted data and ensure data accuracy
- Visualize data using PowerBI
- Create process flows and data flows using MS Visio
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, features, and other development activities
- Utilize Git repositories to maintain code and database scripts
- Manage assigned work using project management tools such as JIRA
- Proactively communicate updates and escalate impediments in a timely manner
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Leadership
Internship technical stack
- MySQL, Python, .NET, Azure, PowerBI
Requirements
- A university student currently pursuing a Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline
- Expected graduation date between December 2023 and May 2024
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work 40 hours a week (M-F), including our standard US overlap hours of 7:00-11:30 PM SLST
Additional requirements
- Understanding of data processing and data cleansing
- Experience with MySQL and Python
- Experience with .NET Web API is a plus
- Experience of working with third-party REST APIs is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated initiative and drive for results
