Assistant Restaurant Manager - Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group

Scope of Position

The assistant restaurant manager will support the restaurant manager in all related operational administrative and financial aspects of the outlet and assume full responsibility in his absence.

Education and Certificates

• High school qualification or equivalent.
• A degree or higher national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is preferred.

Experience

• Experience as an assistant restaurant manager in a highvolume restaurant with the highest levels of service is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of F&B experience in a 5star hotel environment.
• International work experience in at least two of the following regions: Asia Europe North America and preferably the Middle East.
• Hotel preopening or renovation experience is preferred.

• Ability to understand guest needs and expectations and to deliver superior customer service through their own initiative and by driving and motivating the team accordingly.
• Ability to work long hours with a strong focus on operational excellence.
• Familiarize yourself with restaurant point of sale and cashiering procedures.
• Knowledge of allday dining service procedures and standards.
• Well organized and possess solid administrative capability.
• Proven ability to successfully support motivate and lead a large and diverse team.
• Ability to organize large projects and events with the guidance of the restaurant manager.
• Able to use documented performance management systems and handle disciplinary processes with the guidance of the restaurant manager.
• Perform the job with attention to details and the ability to organize and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP is preferred.
• Competent computer skills including MS Office or an equivalent.

Communication Skills

• Ability to understand effective approaches to communication with different individuals.
• Able to empower colleagues and communicate clearly with peers subordinates and superiors.

Training skills

• Strong onthejob and classroomstyle training skills.
• Able to support the restaurant manager to constantly update all training materials and keep good track of all training activities.

Language skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Verbal and written communication skills in Arabic or other languages are preferred.

• Ability to oversee a large and complex area and to work in an outdoor environment in a hot climate.
