Roles and responsibilities
- To ensure energy conservation and operation and maintenance of plants and equipment preventive maintenance schedules, engineering maintenance requests and new work orders are performed and correctly recorded and to provide a monthly work plan to CE for approval.
- To ensure each section of the Engineering is managed effectively, and results in maximizing productivity and quality of work.
- Ensure the effective operations management of the engineering department by setting maintenance standards, implementing preventive maintenance programs for all engineering utilities and ensuring that performance of equipment are regularly monitored and reviewed. Responsible for the general complaints of maintenance, the preparation of equipment data sheets and spares requisitions for equipment failure and their implementation and submission to management.
- To provide monthly work plan to DOE/CE for approval.
- Report to CE on all aspects of engineering, environmental controls and the operational efficiency of the property.
- To ensure adherence to all statutory regulations and fire codes by regularly reviewing policies and safety procedures. Ensure that any tests and inspections required on plant by statutory authorities are carried out as and when required and that all records and documentation associated with such tests and surveys are correctly kept and/or displayed. Ensure that the hotel fulfils all compliance requirements.
- Plans and implements a preventive maintenance program to try and achieve “zero” defects for all equipment in the Hotel
- Ensure that plant and equipment is correctly operated M & E plant and equipment to suit the needs of the hotel
- Coordinates and assists management of hotel on internal campaign and activities of energy conservation programme.
- Ensure the cost effectiveness and technical efficiency of all services performed by outside contracts by close supervision. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with contracts, leases, services agreements and warranties.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a hospitality
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and demanding environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

1. Monitoring and Maintenance of Systems
- Operational Oversight: Monitor and ensure the proper operation of various systems, machinery, and equipment (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems) in a facility.
- Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of all equipment and machinery to identify potential problems and perform preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
- Preventive Maintenance: Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure all systems are in top working condition and to extend the lifespan of equipment.
2. Troubleshooting and Repairs
- Diagnosing Issues: Quickly diagnose faults and issues in equipment, machinery, and systems, and determine the best course of action to fix them.
- Repairs: Perform repairs to faulty equipment or machinery, which may involve replacing parts, adjusting systems, or making temporary fixes until a permanent solution can be made.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to any breakdowns or emergencies, troubleshooting and resolving issues as efficiently as possible to minimize downtime.
3. Team Supervision and Coordination
- On-Site Supervision: Supervise a team of engineers or technicians to ensure that maintenance tasks and repairs are carried out efficiently and safely.
- Shift Management: If applicable, manage and assign tasks to engineering staff working on shifts to ensure continuous coverage and smooth operation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as operations, housekeeping, or production, to coordinate tasks and address any system-related issues.
4. Health and Safety Compliance
- Safety Procedures: Ensure that all maintenance and engineering work is performed in compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards in the work environment and implement corrective actions to reduce the risk of accidents or damage to property.
- Emergency Protocols: Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including the safe handling of hazardous materials or equipment failures.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Log Maintenance Activities: Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and replacements made to machinery and equipment.
- Reporting Issues: Provide reports to management regarding system performance, maintenance activities, and any recurring problems that may need long-term solutions.
- Inventory Management: Track inventory levels of spare parts and supplies, and ensure that the necessary materials are always available for repairs and maintenance.
6. Quality Control
- Inspection and Testing: Perform quality control checks on machinery and systems to ensure they meet performance standards after repairs or maintenance.
- System Calibration: Calibrate equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and efficiency.
- Standards Adherence: Ensure all work complies with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
