A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and hygiene standards, often in hospitality settings like hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, or event venues. Below is a list of essential skills and attributes for this role:

Common Responsibilities of a Steward
- Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces.
- Restocking supplies like dishware, cutlery, or cleaning materials.
- Assisting in dishwashing and maintaining dishroom operations.
- Handling waste removal and maintaining cleanliness in storage areas.
- Supporting event setup and breakdown, such as arranging furniture or preparing serving stations.
Desired candidate profile
As Steward you must adhere to hotel specifications and standards in operating the dishwashing machine to wash designated Restaurant and Kitchen wares, clean and maintain equipment and Dishwashing/ Kitchen/ Cafeteria/ Compactor and Storage areas. You will further assist in washing pots, pans and other kitchen utensils. While doing so you will actively support the kitchen team, providing clean equipment. You would need to complete other special cleaning projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training
- Must have worked at least 6 months as a Steward in Hotels and Restaurants
- Perform duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy and follow-through
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling
- Strongly committed to teamwork and customer service
- Eyes for details to achieve operation excellence
