Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The Manager logistics is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the supply chain processes for Retail Discount, ensuring the efficient movement of goods and materials from suppliers and manufacturers to customers. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of Sourcing Hubs, coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement in logistics, replenishment, and distribution activities. The Logistics Manager works to enhance overall supply chain effectiveness, aligning logistics strategies with broader business goals and ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery of products.

ROLE PROFILE

  • implement a supply chain strategy that aligns with the overall corporate objectives of Retail Discount.
  • Propose and manage actions, solutions in the supply chain management to support the company expansion.
  • Manage and execute supply chain solutions to meet the needs of merchandise and store operations.
  • Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop action plans to ensure the safe handling and operational efficiency of merchandise inventory in stores and stocking locations.
  • Work with the sourcing hubs located in various countries and drive cost efficient logistics solution.
  • Stay informed on changes in customs regulations and legal requirements impacting the supply chain.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment to prevent out-of-stock situations.
  • Oversee the management of distribution center stock days and cold chain compliance to meet operational targets and quality standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management or equivalent
  • 6 years of experience in a similar role
  • Management of a large and complex organization
  • Excellent project management

  • Supply Chain Management

    • Oversee and manage the flow of goods and materials from suppliers to customers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
    • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency and minimize costs.
    • Work with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Transportation Management

    • Coordinate transportation logistics to ensure products are delivered to their destinations on time and within budget.
    • Select the most appropriate transportation methods (road, rail, air, sea) based on cost, delivery time, and reliability.
    • Manage relationships with freight carriers, negotiate rates, and monitor service quality.
  • Inventory Management

    • Oversee inventory levels to ensure that there is enough stock to meet customer demand while avoiding overstocking.
    • Develop inventory control systems to track stock levels, reduce waste, and optimize warehouse space.
    • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure materials and products are delivered on time and meet demand.
  • Warehouse Management

    • Supervise warehouse operations, including the receiving, storing, and dispatching of goods.
    • Ensure the warehouse is organized, with efficient stock placement and easy access for picking and shipping.
    • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Forecasting and Demand Planning

    • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to forecast demand and adjust logistics plans accordingly.
    • Ensure that the company’s supply chain is agile and can quickly adapt to changes in demand or market conditions.
    • Use data and market trends to predict future demand and plan accordingly to avoid shortages or surpluses.
  • Budgeting and Cost Management

    • Develop and manage the logistics department’s budget, ensuring costs are controlled without compromising service levels.
    • Identify areas for cost savings, whether through transportation efficiencies, better procurement practices, or improved inventory control.
    • Negotiate with vendors and service providers to ensure competitive rates and value for money.
  • Logistics Technology and Software

    • Implement and utilize logistics management software (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP systems) to track shipments, manage inventory, and optimize routes.
    • Use technology to improve visibility across the supply chain, track performance, and streamline operations.
    • Stay up to date with the latest logistics technologies and innovations that can improve the efficiency of operations.
