Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

As the Assistant Manager, Lounge for our Plato’s Cafe in Atlantis The Palm, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent guest service and assisting the Manager in managing all areas of full service within the restaurant, including but not limited to training and retaining an excellent team, assisting in managing the team, delivering outstanding hospitality, food cost, labor cost, shared P&L responsibility, and running shifts. You will also play a crucial part in helping to teach and provide guidance for the team, as well as sanitation, safety and cleanliness, whilst also adhering to all company policies and procedures.

Other key parts of this role will in include driving service excellence and guest satisfaction daily, and being fully aware of the restaurant order of service and standards, and provide support to the team with service to ensure the guest’s needs are understood and fulfilled. You will also assist in setting guidelines and standards and ensure they are maintained, whilst also ensuring that all front of house equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant maintenance program.

About You

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role, working within a luxury restaurant or lobby lounge, within a 5* hotel or similar. You will have experience assisting in handling P&L responsibilities and have assisted in managing a team of F&B professionals within a similar environment.

You will also have a firm understanding of a lobby lounge environment and have a proven track records of working within this environment, understanding the customer experience and prioritising their needs to meet the company service standards.

    • Ability to manage and motivate a team of staff, ensuring they adhere to high standards of service and professionalism.
    • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to handle difficult situations with both customers and staff effectively.
  • Customer Service Skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers, understand their needs, and resolve complaints promptly.
    • Ability to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests.
  • Organization and Time Management:

    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once, including staff scheduling, inventory management, and customer service.
    • Efficient in time management, ensuring that operations run smoothly, especially during peak hours.
  • Financial and Budgeting Skills:

    • Understanding of cost control, profit margins, and budgeting to help ensure the lounge remains profitable.
    • Experience in handling cash, making financial transactions, and generating sales reports.
  • Knowledge of Beverages and Food Service:

    • Good understanding of bar and food menus, including specialty drinks, wines, and snacks typically served in a lounge.
    • Ability to oversee the preparation and presentation of drinks and snacks in line with customer expectations.
  • Attention to Detail:

    • Ability to monitor the quality of service and cleanliness in the lounge.
    • Ensuring that all procedures, from service standards to safety protocols, are followed to the letter.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability:

    • Ability to adapt to changing conditions, such as adjusting staffing levels during busy periods or handling unexpected customer issues.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards in the food and beverage industry.
    • Familiarity with alcohol service regulations and age verification laws.
