- Lead the design and implementation of HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and provide technical guidance and solutions.
- Prepare detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Ensure all HVAC systems are installed and maintained according to industry standards and regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements
- Professional experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in Mechanical engineering, with a focus on designing HVAC for various applications and a Proven track record of successfully completed HVAC engineering projects.
- BMS experience is a must.
- Proficiency in HVAC modeling software and tools including Revit, Autocad, IES & HAP.
- Experience in Life Sciences, including pharmaceutical and healthcare facilities.
- Experienced in delivering HVAC design. Producing ventilation system design deliverables, i.e., Ventilation Flow Diagrams (VFD’s), Basis of Design (BoD), Plant Sizing Calculations (Heating / Cooling / Fan Sizing) Control Philosophy.
- In-depth knowledge of fluid mechanics, pipe flow, pump selection, and chilled water system design.
- Knowledge of local and international codes and standards related to HVAC engineering.
- Experience ensuring projects comply with relevant regulations and permitting requirements.
- Report writing expertise.
- Commercially Aware: Demonstrates working knowledge of external forces impacting GHD; financial, market, economic, legal and regulatory environments and how GHD responds to them commercially.

Desired candidate profile
1. Technical Expertise
- HVAC System Design: Expertise in designing HVAC systems, including load calculations, ductwork design, airflow distribution, and equipment selection (e.g., air handling units, chillers, boilers, pumps, and HVAC controls).
- Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Knowledge of energy-efficient design principles, such as using high-efficiency equipment, renewable energy sources, and green building standards (e.g., LEED certification).
- Building Codes and Standards: Familiarity with relevant HVAC design codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NEC, International Mechanical Code, and local building codes).
- Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics: Advanced understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and other physical principles critical to HVAC system performance.
- 3D Modeling and BIM (Building Information Modeling): Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM tools to create accurate, detailed designs and simulations of HVAC systems.
2. Project Management and Coordination
- Team Leadership: Ability to lead a team of HVAC engineers and technicians, ensuring designs are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
- Project Scheduling: Experience in managing project timelines, coordinating with other disciplines (structural, electrical, etc.), and ensuring HVAC designs are integrated effectively within the overall building design.
- Budget Management: Overseeing project budgets for HVAC systems, ensuring that the design choices are cost-effective and meet financial constraints.
- Vendor and Contractor Management: Managing relationships with suppliers and contractors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and smooth execution of HVAC installation.
3. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting
- System Optimization: Identifying inefficiencies in HVAC systems and recommending design solutions to optimize system performance, reduce energy consumption, and meet sustainability goals.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving technical issues with HVAC systems during design, installation, or operation.
- Innovation: Staying updated on emerging HVAC technologies and integrating new solutions into designs to improve performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
4. Communication and Client Interaction
- Client Consultation: Engaging with clients to understand their requirements, present design proposals, and offer HVAC solutions that meet their needs, both functionally and financially.
- Documentation and Reporting: Preparing detailed technical documentation, including HVAC system specifications, design reports, and calculations. Communicating complex technical information clearly to clients and other stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with architects, electrical engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure HVAC systems integrate seamlessly with other building systems.
