Job Description
How does your working day look like …
- You’ll take care of our guests – hand in glove with your colleagues, and from early till late
- You’ll get everything ready for the shift, and take care to ensure that it’s all cleared away again afterwards
- You’ll work independently, even when the going is hectic and your feet hurt and you’ll help, serve, mix drinks.
- You’ll help out wherever things are the most hectic, and every day you’ll learn something new
- You’ll know all the bar and menu products (preparation instructions)
- You’ll manage the stocks and setup for the bar in line with brand standards
- You’ll serves guests at the bar, organising his/her work to suit fluctuations in numbers
- You’ll apply the procedures for opening and closing a point of sale
Qualifications
Your personality counts more than your CV …
- You’ve completed a hotel & catering course, and have gained experience in a bar
- You can motivate your fellow staff and take joint responsibility for planning staff duties and organising the bar.
- You’re keen to work in a bar and gain your first experience there.
- You’re not just bringing your abilities, but also your character

Desired candidate profile
1. Mixology and Drink Preparation
- Knowledge of Cocktails: Understanding classic cocktails (e.g., Martini, Mojito, Margarita) as well as modern drinks and trends.
- Recipe Knowledge: Familiarity with drink recipes and the ability to mix drinks quickly and accurately.
- Ingredient Knowledge: Knowing the difference between various spirits, mixers, garnishes, and how to use them.
2. Customer Service
- Communication: Being able to communicate effectively with customers, understand their preferences, and make recommendations.
- Friendly Demeanor: Maintaining a positive and approachable attitude.
- Listening Skills: Understanding customers' needs and responding attentively.
3. Speed and Efficiency
- Multitasking: Juggling multiple orders while maintaining the quality of each drink.
- Organization: Keeping the bar clean, stocked, and well-organized so that drinks can be prepared quickly.
4. Cash Handling
- POS Systems: Proficiency with point-of-sale systems to process orders, handle payments, and give back correct change.
- Handling Tills: Accurately counting cash and balancing transactions at the end of a shift.
5. Knowledge of Alcohol Laws
- Legal Age: Knowing and adhering to legal drinking ages and checking IDs.
- Intoxication Awareness: Recognizing signs of intoxication and ensuring responsible service.
6. Physical Endurance
- Stamina: Bartending often requires long hours on your feet and the ability to handle the physical demands of the job.
- Strength: Handling heavy kegs, cases of alcohol, and ice.
7. Cleaning and Sanitation
- Bar Hygiene: Ensuring the bar and utensils are clean and sanitized.
- Glassware: Proper cleaning and care of glassware to maintain hygiene and presentation.
8. Creativity
- Creating New Cocktails: Experimenting with new ingredients, garnishes, and flavors to create unique drinks.
- Presentation: Making drinks visually appealing through garnishes, glassware, and overall presentation.
9. Conflict Resolution
- Dealing with Difficult Customers: Addressing complaints, managing unruly customers, and maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
- Teamwork: Coordinating with other bartenders, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
10. Time Management
- Handling Rush Hours: Managing the bar during busy times (e.g., weekends, holidays) while maintaining a high level of service.
- Prioritizing Tasks: Ensuring customers are served efficiently without compromising drink quality.
11. Marketing and Sales Skills
- Upselling: Encouraging customers to try more expensive drinks, upsell bottles of wine, or offer promotions.
- Building Regulars: Creating a loyal customer base by remembering regular customers and their preferences.
