Roles and responsibilities
To Assist the line manager in the effective running of the department or store by taking responsibility for overseeing the staff to ensure the all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently, to train and develop staff and substitute for the line manager in store operational duties when required. To maintain a high standard of customer service and lead by example
What You Will Do
- Provide high levels of customer service: Leading be example, excellent product knowledge, ability to handle difficult situations efficiently, provide customer satisfaction.
- Store Operations – Assist the store manager with day to day operations: Ability to handle Duty Management shifts, run the dept in the absence of the line manager, Take responsibility for opening and closing the store and following procedures for such. Take responsibility for ticketing and pricing following company policy which requires full ticketing for each item.
- POS Operation – to be able to train new employees of the Point of Sale: Efficient POS operation in the store, minimal disruptions to service, dealing with and managing any corrective action efficiently
- Excellent Product Knowledge: To be aware about the products being sold in the store, to training new employees, to ensure increased revenue through add on sales and by correctly identifying the products required by the customer to complete projects.
- Receiving deliveries: Ability to follow procedure, to supervise the process, ensure accurate processes are in place. Detailed follow up when investigating discrepancies.
- In store Administration procedures relating to cash handling: Full knowledge of the process, adherence to policies, high level of accuracy when dealing with cash and banking activities
- Additional events: To actively participate in other events to drive sales and improve the operations of the business(inc : Store Stock take, new store openings, promotional activities etc)
Required Skills To Be Successful
Minimum Experience and Knowledge: 3 + years either in a retail environment or previous supervisory role in a service industry

2. Team Leadership and Staff Support
- Supervise Junior Staff: Oversee and guide less experienced sales assistants, ensuring that they are performing their duties efficiently and providing customer service up to company standards.
- Training and Mentoring: Assist with the onboarding and training of new or junior team members, helping them to understand the sales process, product knowledge, and store policies.
- Shift Management: Take responsibility for organizing and delegating tasks to staff during shifts, ensuring that the sales floor is adequately staffed and tasks are completed on time.
- Team Motivation: Help create a positive work environment, motivating the team to meet sales targets and ensuring a high level of team performance.
3. Sales and Performance Tracking
- Sales Targets: Contribute to achieving daily, weekly, or monthly sales targets, working with the team to ensure store goals are met.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze sales performance, identifying areas for improvement or growth and helping to implement strategies to boost sales.
- Customer Feedback: Gather customer feedback on products and services and report this information to management to improve service offerings or adjust sales strategies.
4. Product Knowledge and Display
- Product Expertise: Maintain in-depth knowledge of the products or services being sold, keeping up with any new arrivals, updates, or changes in the product range.
- Visual Merchandising: Assist with setting up and maintaining product displays in line with the company’s guidelines, ensuring that the store looks attractive and products are easily accessible to customers.
- Stock Organization: Help manage stock levels, ensure that best-selling products are readily available, and alert management when stock needs to be replenished.
