Roles and responsibilities
1. Guest Service and Interaction:
- Greet and Welcome Guests: Ensure guests feel welcomed and valued by greeting them promptly and with a friendly attitude when they enter the restaurant or dining area.
- Take Orders: Accurately take food and beverage orders from guests, ensuring that special requests, dietary restrictions, and preferences are noted and communicated to the kitchen.
- Serve Food and Beverages: Deliver food and beverages to guests’ tables in a timely and professional manner, ensuring the correct order is served and presented according to the restaurant's standards.
- Provide Menu Recommendations: Advise guests on the menu, recommend food and drink pairings, and highlight any specials or promotions available.
- Ensure Guest Satisfaction: Check back with guests to ensure they are satisfied with their meals and service, and address any concerns or additional needs promptly.
2. Order and Payment Management:
- Ensure Order Accuracy: Double-check orders to ensure accuracy before serving food and beverages to guests.
- Process Payments: Handle cash, credit, or room charge payments efficiently and accurately, providing receipts and correct change.
- Maintain Order Systems: Accurately input orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system, ensuring all items are recorded correctly.
3. Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean and Set Tables: Clear dirty dishes, utensils, and glassware from tables, and set up tables for new guests by arranging clean settings, napkins, and condiments.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the cleanliness of dining areas, including floors, tables, chairs, and other areas. Regularly check restrooms and workstations to maintain hygiene standards.
- Restock Supplies: Refill napkins, condiments, and other essentials on tables and dining areas to ensure a consistent and pleasant experience for guests.
4. Assisting with Food Preparation and Stocking:
- Assist in Food Prep: Depending on the establishment, assist with the preparation of food and beverages, including simple tasks like garnishing plates, preparing beverages, or assembling trays.
- Restock Bar and Service Areas: Ensure that food and beverage stations are stocked with necessary items such as napkins, straws, condiments, cutlery, and beverage supplies.
5. Team Collaboration:
- Work with Kitchen and Bar Staff: Communicate effectively with the kitchen staff and bar team to ensure that orders are prepared according to guest specifications and delivered promptly.
- Coordinate with Other Service Staff: Collaborate with other servers, hosts, or attendants to ensure efficient service flow, particularly during busy periods.
- Assist with Training New Staff: Help train and mentor new or junior team members in restaurant procedures, service etiquette, and customer service standards.
6. Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to Hygiene Standards: Follow food safety and hygiene procedures when handling food and beverages, ensuring that all items are prepared and served in a clean and safe environment.
- Safety Practices: Be aware of potential safety hazards (e.g., wet floors, hot surfaces) and report any issues to the supervisor to prevent accidents.
- Follow COVID-19 Protocols (if applicable): Adhere to health guidelines and sanitation protocols to ensure guests' safety in compliance with current health advisories.
7. Specialized Responsibilities (depending on venue):
- Bar Service: In some settings, the F&B Attendant may be responsible for serving drinks and cocktails, either as part of the dining service or in a dedicated bar area.
- Banquets/Events: For hotels or large restaurants, the F&B Attendant may assist with setting up or serving food and beverages during special events, conferences, or banquets.
Desired candidate profile
Your main responsibilities are to support/assist the waiter in delivering exceptional standard of service. This includes, running the food service from kitchen to restaurant, clearing tables and sections from debris and soiled utensils, leasing with Stewarding team to wash equipment, polishing, storing, refiling stations, setting back of house mis-en place, setting tables, serving food, complete opening and closing duties, adhered to sanitation and safety standards (ISO).
About You
Previous experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel or restaurant. Proficiency in English is required, with additional languages being a strong asset. Previous experience working in established restaurants is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
