Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Quality Manager to join our team in UAE. This is an excellent career opportunity for professionals looking to join a truly international team in one of the biggest projects of Siemens Mobility.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Ensure the site quality and provide leadership and guidance to the quality teams of the subsystems.
  • Define and implement QM strategy and systems for the overall project considering the consortium policy and the contract requirements.
  • Support project management in planning and securing milestone results.
  • Cooperate with the project director, project managers, and other project staff, environmental protection, health, and safety at work, and guide the quality manager of partners to achieve the overall quality strategy.
  • Establish and monitor quality plan e.g. acc. ISO 10005 / 10006, defines quality targets based on project critical factors and defines methods/tools based on HQ standards, all proceedings with the application of methods/tools should be clearly defined concerning standard processes of related business(es) and their interfaces of HQ to required on-site proceedings.
  • Progress and results should be verifiable based on project factors, quality-related KPIs or key figures i.e. provided by the line management, and defined target values or characteristics as per the project target agreement (PD agreement) to be achieved.
  • Report quality status, quality incidents, and root-cause analysis to the PD, business unit (BU), and other defined parties, jointly with the PD team, based on determined KPIs, key figures, and specified characteristics, and communicate quality targets to all people affected or involved.
  • Escalate project-endangering situations as outlined in the mission of the function and, if relevant, to the head of the project-related BU.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and interact for quality matters with the organization of the client, its consultant, and other contractors of the client in the project also with consortium partner.
  • Establish and ensure processes to analyze and monitor the fulfillment of contractual and committed requirements, and manage professional feedback to and from the customer, and manage complaints.
  • Ensure execution of quality plan and quality gate process through active involvement in readiness checks and participation in quality gate meetings, reject releases e.g. at quality gates in case of non-conformity and initiate corrective actions, report and escalate as outlined in the mission of the function.
  • Ensure that quality for site activities is properly managed by the concerned lots during installation and T&C (non-conformity, corrective actions, closure…), including follow-up of the needed actions.
  • Plan, initiate, and coordinate continuous improvement measures for all phases of the project. Ensure good practice sharing and feedback of experience e.g. through continuous improvement workshops (esp. lessons learned activities) and project assessments.
  • Plan and ensure the required quality level of the project-specific supply chain (internal & external) with a focus on specifications and interface definitions. This includes the application of supplier-related procedures, such as selection, qualification, development, integration, supervision, and auditing.
  • Identify qualification requirements and initiate training for project employees about knowledge of quality methods to be applied, process awareness, and expert knowledge.
  • Plan and conduct project audits, assessments, reviews and participate in status meetings and ensure implementation of improvement measures.
  • Define and issue project-specific directives in collaboration with the PD to the project team members to ensure compliance with the relevant internal and customer processes, quality rules, and regulations.
  • Emphasis on the achievement of excellent quality on-site during installation and testing.
  • Intervene and escalate to the reporting line in functional matters where guidelines, quality-relevant procedures, or targets are not complied with, this includes the involvement of expert opinions as necessary leadership.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Management within Railway projects.
  • Certification from a recognized project management institute (or PM @Siemens for internal applicants).
  • Solid work experience in bigger and more complex projects in the field of QM and EHS
  • Practical knowledge of ISO standards 9001, 14001, and 45001 is highly appreciated.
  • Proven track records and work experience in quality management
  • Leading site quality for large and complex electromechanical work.
  • Internal and external leadership and communication/negotiation skills.
  • Work with international companies.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.

  3. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and metrics to assess quality performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  4. Problem-Solving: Proficient in identifying root causes of quality issues and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  5. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, CE marking) to ensure compliance.

  6. Process Improvement: Skills in methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.

  7. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and report on quality metrics.

  8. Team Leadership: Experience in leading and developing quality teams, providing guidance and support for quality initiatives.

  9. Training and Development: Ability to train employees on quality standards, processes, and best practices to foster a culture of quality.

  10. Risk Management: Skills in identifying potential quality risks and developing mitigation strategies.

  11. Customer Focus: Understanding customer needs and expectations to ensure quality standards align with delivering value.

  12. Documentation Skills: Proficient in maintaining accurate records of quality assessments, audits, and compliance reports.
