PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Site Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing all onsite aspects of construction projects ensuring that they are completed safely on time within budget and to the required quality standards. This role involves coordinating with project teams subcontractors and suppliers to execute construction plans resolving technical issues and ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and manage daytoday site activities ensuring that work is carried out according to the approved drawings specifications and schedule.
- Monitor site progress and ensure that project milestones and deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with the Site Manager and Project Manager to plan and allocate resources efficiently including labor materials and equipment.
- Interpret and apply construction drawings specifications and technical documents to guide site activities.
- Identify and resolve any technical or engineering issues that arise onsite providing solutions to ensure uninterrupted progress.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Liaise with architects engineers subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth of the project.
- Attend and contribute to site meetings providing updates on progress challenges and solutions.
- Communicate effectively with the construction team ensuring that all site personnel are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures onsite ensuring that work meets the required standards and specifications.
- Conduct inspections and tests on materials and workmanship documenting and reporting any deviations from the project specifications.
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with relevant codes regulations and industry standards.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture onsite ensuring that all activities are carried out in compliance with the companys HSE policies.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits reporting any hazards or incidents to the Site Manager.
- Ensure that all site personnel are equipped with the necessary safety gear and are trained in safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities including daily reports material deliveries and equipment usage.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager highlighting any issues that may impact the project timeline or budget.
- Ensure that all project documentation including asbuilt drawings and site records is properly maintained and uptodate.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in a site engineering role within the construction industry.
- Experience working with a main contractor is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques materials and industry standards.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings specifications and construction documents.
- Excellent organizational communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g. AutoCAD MS Project Primavera) is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. PMP OSHA NEBOSH) are advantageous.
