Help us engage our audiences by developing digital assets for us to use across our website and content management systems so that we can help people to navigate the criminal justice system in England and Wales
Our project delivers online information and resources to members of the criminal justice community in England and Wales. We are urgently looking for experienced Drupal developers to work with us as we migrate from WordPress to Drupal and redesign the service based on user needs.
The Drupal Developer volunteer role will expose you to workflows such as:
- Creating and personalising content types within Drupal
- Creating personalised footers, headers and elements within Drupal
- Working with Content Designers, Information Architects and User Researchers to create an interactive, accessible and user-friendly resource to help people navigate the criminal justice system in England and Wales.
- Working in the open using tools such as GitHub
- Working within an Agile Team whereby you will be supported by a dedicated Product and Delivery Manager
- Integrating APIs from services such as GOV.UK, mySociety, Police.UK and other public sector data access systems.
You will be working with our user researchers and content designers to plan, develop, design and review code in sprints and based on epics.
Requirements
We are looking for a developer who:
- Is a visually creative individual with a passion for design
- Has experience in working with the Drupal CMS
- Has experience working within an Agile Team and is able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision
- Has the ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and users
- Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements
- Understands the resource constraints of a small NPO and is able to work with these.
- Is a self-starter with a can-do attitude and is committed to the volunteer role.
- Is comfortable with tools such as PHP, MySQL, Docker, Lando, Java, HTML, CSS and Markdown Languages
