JOB DESCRIPTION
- The Accountant will take ownership of the payroll, timekeeping, and end-to-end general accounting and bookkeeping function, from processing to balancing and reconciliation of accounting records and
- The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of South African Accounting Standards, Auditing, and Admin procedures and will be an asset to the Accounting The individual shall be an excellent team player; very keen on details, love working within a busy environment and possess a high level of integrity, sense of urgency, and
- Perform end-to-end general accounting tasks, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Bookkeeping and preparation of payroll tax (South African Taxation Office Compliances)
- Prepare billing invoices for clients and follow-ups for collections
- Keep the system updated and maintain proper documentation for all transactions
- Prepare summary of billings and payments, liquidations, breakdown of fees, as requested by clients
- Maintain and observe absolute confidentiality of all company s transactions, records, and documents
- Check figures, postings, invoices, and other documents to ensure that they are accurate, properly coded, and contain appropriate authorization for payment
- Prepare petty cash replenishment report, proper designation of accounts and maintains petty cash fund
- Prepare and process payment due to suppliers/vendors for the purchases; operational expenses - rental, condo dues, parking, power & light, communications, ; reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses and other expenditures
- Record transactions and maintain books of accounts
- Payroll preparation and disbursement
- Prepare vouchers and check payments
- Respond to tickets that come through the ticketing system
- Adhere to SLA s around services that we provide via ticketing system
- Prepare monthly financial reports including but not limited to financial statements, cash flow statements, aging of receivables/payables and other financial schedules
- Prepare timely payments, periodic reports, and remittances to government agencies
- Assist and address payroll and accounting-related inquiries and concerns
- Understand that communication with customers is critical and not be afraid to pick up the phone and speak to a client
- Work as a part of a global organization learning how to assist other accounting departments outside South Africa with their needs ;
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or any relevant field
- At least 7+ years experience as General Accountant or equivalent in a South African based Company is required
- Well-versed in SA accounting, taxation, and payroll preparation
- Extensive experience in South African Taxation Office Compliances
- Expertise in end-to-end Accounts payable and receivable function
- Knowledgeable in basic and advanced accounting and financial principles and practices
- Excellent English verbal and written business communication skills, including phone and email
- Keen attention to details and has great problem solving, and organizational skills
- Team player and possess great interpersonal skills
- Flexible, and has high sense of urgency, responsibility, and integrity
- Advanced Excel ;
- Preferred Experience
- At least 7+ years experience as General Accountant or equivalent in BPO industry is a plus
- Knowledge in any accounting Xero Accounting software is a plus
