Job Description

One of our leading Food & Beverage industry client in the UAE is looking for an ambitious, creative, passionate and driven R&D Gelato Chef to join their production team who look forward to bring new creation in the kitchen.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for gelato and pastry making as well as other operational skills.
  • Refine, improve, and update existing Gelato recipes and Gelato menu items
  • Ability to come up with creative ideas and flavors in line with current and future trends and translate them to exciting and appealing menu items.
  • Ensure consistency and presentation of finished products.
  • Proper usage and maintenance of equipment.
  • Able to do Research and Development (R&D) of new product offerings.
  • Able to develop Gelato products from a range of cuisines, with various different looks and forms of presentation
  • Track food costs, and maintain portion control and preparation quantities with minimal wastage.
  • Forecasting and liaising with suppliers. Assists in placing orders when necessary.
  • Understand and practice proper handling, receiving, and storage of ingredients, finished products, and gelato to prevent spoilage.
  • Be creative in the design and implementation of ongoing food concepts.
  • Should be responsible for making cones, packing gelato pints, serving customers, taking orders, scooping gelato, managing queue and cashiering duties.
  • Maintain high standards of grooming and personal hygiene.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates in a timely, efficient and effective manner.
  • Guide the juniors when required.
  • Complete any ad hoc tasks assigned.

Requirements

  • Professional Certificate/NiTEC/Diploma/Degree in Baking & Pastry/Culinary Arts/Culinary Management or any relevant certificates.
  • 5+ years of experience is required
  • Advantageous to possess a valid WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Course certificate.
  • Should be experienced with gelato production techniques and processes.
  • Committed, responsible and dedicated to roles and responsibilities to ensure optimal work performance.
  • Have excellent personal hygiene and uphold the utmost level of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Physically fit and can stand for long hours.
