We are looking for a highly skilled Rock Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a balanced experience in geotechnical design and site reconnaissance with expertise in geological mapping rock mechanics and geotechnical investigations. This role requires proficiency in advanced software tools international standards and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions for complex infrastructure projects across the GCC region.
- Perform specific and limited portions of broader engineering assignments under moderate supervision.
- Gather and analyze basic engineering data using established procedures.
- Identify discrepancies in results and propose solutions to new technical problems.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and ensure deliverables meet budget and schedule requirements.
Technical Expertise
- Conduct site reconnaissance and geological mapping with a focus on rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems.
- Develop computer-aided geological models profiles and cross-sections using tools such as AutoCAD ArcGIS or Leapfrog.
- Perform rock slope stability and rock fall analyses and design mitigation measures such as barriers mesh and anchors.
- Conduct geotechnical investigations including in-situ and laboratory testing and interpret results to define geotechnical design parameters.
- Prepare geotechnical design reports specifications BoQs and technical proposals.
- Design rock slope support for open cuts and provide geohazard and terrain hazard assessments.
- Prepare contracts for geotechnical investigations surveys and construction works.
Software Proficiency
- Utilize RocScience Suite including RocFall (2D/3D) Dips RocPlane SWedge RocTopple RSData and Slide2/3 (or Slope/W).
- Work with AutoCAD and ArcGIS for geological mapping and spatial data management.
- (Preferred) Experience with Leapfrog for 3D geological modelling.
Standards & Compliance
- Apply international geotechnical and rock mechanics codes and standards (e.g. Eurocode 7 ISRM AASHTO BS 5930 QCS).
- Ensure compliance with local licensing and statutory requirements in Qatar Bahrain and UAE.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including civil structural tunnelling and hydrology experts.
- Liaise with contractors clients and local authorities to ensure project approvals and compliance.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Geological Engineering Geology Engineering Geology Geotechnical Engineering Mining Engineering Civil Engineering Rock Mechanics Rock Engineering or Foundation Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience in geotechnical design and site reconnaissance.
- Proficiency in RocScience Suite AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
- Strong technical writing skills for preparing reports proposals and specifications.
- Knowledge of geotechnical investigations rock mechanics and rock slope stability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters or PhD in a relevant geotechnical discipline.
- Experience with Leapfrog software for geological modelling.
- Knowledge of geophysical survey methods hydrogeology and seismic design.
- Experience with geotechnical design for tunnels hydraulic structures and terrain hazard assessments.
- Working toward or possessing professional registration (CEng PE or equivalent).
