The City University of New York (CUNY) & The State University of New York (SUNY) provide some of the best public education for so many students here in our state. Equality New York is launching a special program called the CUNY/SUNY LGBTQI Internship Program, which will invest in these institutions by providing paid internships and an accepting placement for their students.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Community Organizing: Assist with community engagement and activist efforts;
- Social Media: Craft a social media plan that includes content for Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. Including, implementing a weekly schedule for dissemination;
- Activism: Coordinate rallies, lobby days, panel discussions with EQNY leadership;
- Partner: Build and establish relationships with community leaders and organizations;
- Project: Work with an internship supervisor to determine a project that will supplement school studies or career goals.
Job Requirements:
- Live in New York State;
- Dedicated to using a racial equity lens;
- Currently, enrolled at a CUNY or SUNY Institution as an Undergraduate or Graduate Student;
- Interested in community organizing and activism within the queer and trans community in New York State.
Job Details:
- Pay rate: $20 per hour (15 hours per week required)
- Weekly supervision
- Ongoing individual and group training included
