- Providing advice regarding the development of new projects, policies, and procedures based on industry best practices
- Consulting with public agencies to improve public transportation services or infrastructure such as bus stops, train stations, and airports
- Conducting feasibility studies of proposed transportation projects, identifying potential funding sources, and estimating construction costs
- Preparing reports on potential solutions to problems within a transportation system’s design or operation
- Providing expert testimony in court cases involving accidents or other transportation-related matters
- Conducting evaluations of existing transportation facilities and services to identify opportunities for improvement
- Providing advice on the purchase of new vehicles, equipment, or technology to improve efficiency
- Evaluating operational costs of transportation systems to determine whether they are profitable or need to be restructured
- Recommending methods for improving transit ridership and increasing revenues from fares or advertising
