Job Summary

The Accountant will plan and direct the accounting activities of the company as well as oversee accounting contractors and client accounting processes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

.

Assist with establishing and maintaining internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation

.

Use internal accounting systems for daily accounting responsibilities, including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable cycles (global scale)

.

Enter credit card transactions and reconcile credit card accounts

.

Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts

.

Perform account analysis in relation to completing account reconciliations

.

Research and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies and issues

.

Respond to vendor and client inquiries, as needed

.

Prepare state sales/use tax calculations and reporting

.

Assist with the month-end closing process, conducting research and making correction journal entries for account discrepancies, and prepares closing journal entries

.

Assist with annual financial audits and perform ad hoc analysis and projects, as needed.

.

Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards

.

Assist the contracted CPA with tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return

.

Assist with quality control of accounting vendors

.

Assist with new client accounts payable setup

.

Audit accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit

.

Consult with CEO and assist in providing recommendations to management on short and long-term financial objectives and policies

.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements, such as required insurance reporting, etc.

.

Participate in team meetings and take ownership for team improvement initiatives and other assigned action items, when needed

.

Work collaboratively with team members to provide and receive feedback with tact and diplomacy

.

Assist other team members during peak periods to ensure that all deadlines are met

Position Type and Expected Work Hours

This is a contract position. Days and hours may be flexible depending on business needs with a minimum of 20 hours a week.

Required Education and Experience

.

Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

.

CPA required

.

Three (3) years experience managing accounts payable and receivable functions

.

Three (3) years experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, etc.) is required

Requirements

Preferred Education and Experience

.

Experience with a marketplace/ridesharing/mapping startup - can work in a fast-paced environment that requires you to wear multiple hats

Required Skills and Qualifications

.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices and procedures on manual and automated systems

.

Interested in global collaborations

.

A foreign language proficiency strongly preferred

.

Excellent organizational and time management skills

.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn additional programs as required

.

Ability to work with little to no direct supervision

.

Demonstrated judgment and decision-making ability
