Phlebotomist

DHA license or eligibility is mandatory.

Description: To draw blood from patients for various testing and donation purposes in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements


REQUIRED EDUCATION


Certified as a Phlebotomy course


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE


At least 3 years' experience of which at least 2 years were as a Phlebotomist in different sittings.


KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS


1. Support overall laboratory services with specimen collection, receipt and preparation for analysis


2. Support with relevant administrative and technical processes required for efficient laboratory operations


3. Perform a variety of routine and complex blood collecting procedures in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements


4. Prepare reagents used in the collection of specimens


5.Provide relevant training and support to team members


6. Support and guide the development of new techniques used for obtaining and handling laboratory specimens


REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE


Knowledge of relevant governance and accreditation standards relevant to laboratory services


Verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of health information systems
