The purpose of the School Age Teacher is to ensure the quality and core values of Magic Memories are upheld. To ensure the health and safety of the children in their care and to create a loving, supportive, and individualized learning environment for all students.


Responsibilities:
  • To be responsible for the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the group. To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual and the group. Treat each child with dignity and respect but with open affection.
  • Maintained daily classroom responsibilities, activities, organization, cleanliness, and layout adhering to policies and procedures. All classroom postings, bulletin boards, displays, and calendars should be neatly displayed and kept current.
  • Plan weekly lesson plans based on a curriculum outline and themes. Ensure that all state standards and objectives are included in lesson plans. Interact with the children to encourage their involvement in group activities.
  • Establish and maintain good communication with parents through formal and informal conversations. This should include, but not be limited to, daily Kangarootime, email, phone conversations, and conferences. The Teacher should keep the Director updated on necessary information gained through parent communications.
  • Complete observations for each student monthly
  • Maintain order in all areas where children are present. Ensure the classroom complies with the Department of Human Services and other state regulatory agencies' rules and regulations. This includes that the school is always in ratio.
  • Supervise the teacher assistant, floaters, and afternoon staff as needed. Keep these coworkers updated on all relevant matters concerning the children and program.
  • Attend all mandatory school-related events and activities. This includes choosing three different school and community events in which Magic Memories participates.
  • Stay current on necessary personnel file items, training, and certifications, and understand program procedures regarding these areas. Be competent in First Aid/CPR, Water Safety, and Fire Safety procedures and regulations.

Educational Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in ECE, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in the above categories and one year of experience with children.
  • An Associate's degree in the above categories and two years of experience.
  • An Associate's degree including 30 hours in the above categories and three years of experience.
  • A minimum of a Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) and two years of experience working with children.
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma and two years of experience working with children.
Other Requirements:
  • Knowledgeable of the child's physical, emotional, and developmental patterns.
  • Sensitivity to the individual and group needs of children. A positive approach to the child.
  • Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.
  • Sufficient maturity and sound judgment to function in a crisis.
  • Ability to create an atmosphere of cheerful and appropriate discipline.
  • Sensitive to the individual needs of parents.
  • Ability to communicate with parents effectively.
  • Logical decision-making ability
  • Good customer service
  • Physical abilities required include hearing the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, seeing and reading newsprint with or without corrective lenses, speaking and understanding under normal circumstances, and lifting and carrying children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Pay Range
$14.50-$18.75/hr

Working Hours:

7:00 am-9:00 am & 2:00 pm- 6:00 pm
