- Using specialized computer programs to recover data from damaged hard drives or other electronic devices
- Conducting tests to determine whether a computer system may have been compromised by hackers or other threats
- Analyzing data from computer systems to identify security vulnerabilities or possible criminal activity
- Gathering evidence by photographing crime scenes or accident sites, interviewing witnesses, and collecting documents related to cases
- Preserving computer-based evidence by copying it onto another device or removing it from the computer entirely
