Position Title: Environmental / Chemical Engineer

Location: Dhahran Eastern Saudi Arabia

Position Type: FullTime


Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consultation to support company strategies and policies in GHG management and decarbonization.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Corporate Decarbonization Strategy including AssetLevel Decarbonization Roadmaps and Life Cycle Analyses (LCA).
  • Lead research and development initiatives focused on GHG emission reduction technologies particularly methane.
  • Support and mentor young engineers in environmental assessment management and technology.
  • Develop business goals and identify opportunities for GHG reduction.
  • Evaluate and report on climate change GHGs emission pathways and energy outlooks.
  • Engage with governmental and international entities on climate change reporting mechanisms.
  • Assist in GHG minimization efforts at operational facilities and deploy new mitigation technologies.
  • Update engineering standards and procedures conduct LCAs and audits and review project designs and impact assessments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering from a recognized program. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in GHG management including at least five years focused on decarbonization/GHG abatement activities in the Energy sector preferably Oil and Gas.
Extensive knowledge

  • World Resources Institute (WRI) GHG Protocol
  • ISO 140641
  • IPIECA/API/OGP Petroleum industry guidelines for GHG reporting
  • GHG reporting programs (e.g. EU ETS US EPA GHGRP CDP)
  • Decarbonization methodologies and technologies
  • Life Cycle Analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in managing corporatelevel decarbonization programs and leading companywide carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to produce technicallysound reports and presentations.
  • Experience in Saudi Arabia and familiarity with local regulatory environments are highly desirable.
  • Relevant certifications such as Fundamentals of Engineering Professional Engineering or Chartered Engineer are highly desirable.
  • Involvement in international or national committees related to GHG and climate change (e.g. IPCC UNFCC) is a plus.
