The Laboratory for the Molecular Biology of Leukemia of Professor Jan Cools () is currently looking for a highly motivated Research Technician to join the team to work on a collaborative project with the team of Daan Dierickx, a clinical hematologist in UZ

We try to understand the genetic complexity of leukemia and lymphoma,

with the aim to use that information to develop novel treatment

The Laboratory for the Molecular Biology of Leukemia has identified and characterized important oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes in hematological cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma, and has used that information to develop novel treatment To achieve our research goals, we are generating novel mouse models to study the development of leukemia and lymphoma, and use these mouse models to test new therapeutic

Job description

  • You will be part of a young research team and will be involved in several projects, closely working together with the and Postdoctoral researchers in the
  • You will be responsible for mouse breeding and the analysis of the developed mouse
  • You will be involved in performing mouse bone marrow transplants and the subsequent follow-up of the
  • You will be involved in the collection of human patient material for biobanking and for the generation of patient-derived xenograft mouse
  • You will perform cell culture techniques, including culture of cell lines and primary cells, viral transduction, CRISPR/Cas genome editing,
  • You will perform different molecular techniques, such as flow cytometry, (qRT-)PCR, Western blotting, cloning
  • You will assist in experiments that involve next-generation sequencing, single-cell sequencing,
  • You will have the opportunity to learn new state-of-the-art technologies and
  • You will participate in the daily laboratory management, which includes follow-up of the deliveries and stock

Your profile

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in laboratory technology, biotechnology, or Bachelor/Master's in Life Sciences or
  • You hold a FELASA B certificate and have expertise in working with laboratory animals (mice or other).
  • Expertise in molecular biology is considered a
  • Experience as a researcher in a scientific laboratory is considered a
  • You are passionate about science and are strongly motivated to learn new
  • You maintain excellent organizational skills, work accurately and are critical of your work and its
  • You have a strong ability to multi-task and meet
