Academic and Career Counselor Jobs in Dubai

The Guidance Counselor is the key reference in the school on matters pertaining to local and international colleges and universities and has full knowledge of the requirements of these institutions related to student admissions. Most importantly the Guidance Counselor tracks and monitors the performance of students in their senior classes in the school and intervenes to align student performance with institutional requirements a qualified and experienced academic and career counselor for high school students. The ideal candidate should have bachelor’s/master’s degree in counselling or closely related field. Recognized certification in Counselling is preferred.

Requirements of Carrere Counselor

• Plans and implements a guidance and counseling program that is aligned with the school s guiding statements
• Maintains updated records of students in their senior years including information such as bio contact information results of standardized assessments record of academic performance university plans selection etc and treats this information with confidentiality
• Supports the SLT in the administration of standardized exams and other benchmark tests and provides information on the guidance program as required
• Analyzes students results on standardized exams PSAT SAT TOEFL IELTS etc. and provides feedback and recommendations to students on further steps
• Conducts individual and group counseling to students based on requests from Heads of Sections
• Stays up-to-date with new information related to his her area of work through readings conferences and other means of training and knowledge acquisition and transfers this knowledge to members of the academic staff on a regular basis

Requirements

• A degree level qualification in Psychology specialized in school based counseling. Augmenting school counseling certifications and licenses are beneficial

• Solid and demonstrable counselling experience of at least 3 years, supporting students with diverse backgrounds, ideally within an IB curriculum school, however this is not mandatory

• History of successful partnering with Admin (SLT) and other relevant stakeholders

• Knowledge of advisory or character programmed

• Resilient and agile decision-making skills to ensure successful design and implementation of programs that meet school and student body requirements to help students achieve success in all aspects of their life

• Superior interpersonal skills that reflect patience, tolerance, sensitivity, empathy and enthusiasm for working with students, parents and school staff in a multicultural and international setting

• Aspiration to work in a world class school with real prospects for enhancing their career
