Scope and Purpose:
- The role is designed to primarily support the HoL across the full spectrum of commercial and contractual legal responsibilities throughout the entire contract lifecyclefrom initial request for proposals (RFP) requests for quotations (RFQ) and public tender processes to contract proposal negotiation drafting and finalization. The ideal candidate must be capable of independently managing end-to-end contractual matters for both private and public sector clients. This includes handling complex agreements involving multiple stakeholders such as general contractors subcontractors and consortium members. The position requires a strong ability to coordinate and structure multi-party contracts ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safeguard the organizations interests at all stages of contract execution.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong expertise and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A high level of attention to detail autonomy and efficiency is essential along with the capacity to manage a demanding workload including situations involving conflicting priorities and time pressure.
- The candidate must be adept at identifying risks gaps and inconsistencies collaborating with and leading cross-functional teams proposing effective solutions and alternatives and persuading stakeholders using both legal and non-legal arguments.
Key Result Areas & Responsibilities:
- Primarily collaborate closely with key business units to review draft amend and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including but not limited to customer agreements supplier and service provider contracts offers and proposals as well as tender RFQ RFP documents and bid submissions for mainly public but also private sector projects.
- When necessary support the HoL and various departments by conducting legal research and providing legal guidance on a broad array of topics including contract interpretation and implementation human resources matters legal training and initiatives inter-company agreements and other general corporate governance.
- When necessary assist in ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements across all contractual and operational activities.
- When necessary manage and contribute to ad hoc legal and compliance projects.
Job Requirements/qualifications:
- Education: Minimum Bachelors degree in Law (LLL and/or LLB) with strong academic credentials.
- Advanced Qualifications: LLM preferred but not mandatory.
- Professional Memberships: ideally member of a European and/or North American Bar Association.
- Experience: At least 7 years of robust commercial and contractual experience ideally with both private and public clients
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Extensive experience in drafting reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts tenders and agreements.
- Public Sector Experience: Experience working with public entities in the MEA region is a strong advantage.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and resolve issues with strong legal reasoning and commercial awareness.
- Multi-Party Contracts: Demonstrated experience handling contracts involving multiple parties including but not limited to teaming agreements consortium agreements and subcontracting arrangements.
- Industry-Specific Experience: Familiarity with contracts related to hardware software large-scale projects after-sales services and similar sectors.
- Commercial Insight: In-depth understanding of commercial and contractual matters with a strong focus on delivering exceptional client service.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously including planning reporting and process management.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a heavy workload effectively.
- Teamwork: Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills capable of working with cross-functional and international teams.
- Legal Expertise: Expertise in contract law including contract drafting software licensing agreements and negotiation techniques.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous with strong multi-tasking abilities and a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle challenging situations and work effectively with difficult individuals or organizations.
- Languages: Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) is mandatory. Arabic is a plus but not decisive.
- Autonomy: Able to work independently manage multiple tasks and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Nice-to-Have Qualifications: Experience with joint ventures and/or construction project/contract such as but not limited to FIDIC is a plus but not decisive
