The Merchandising Manager is responsible for developing and executing effective merchandising strategies to maximize sales profitability and customer satisfaction. This role involves planning product ranges managing inventory levels analyzing sales trends and collaborating closely with suppliers buyers and store teams to ensure that the right products are available at the right time and place.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement merchandising plans aligned with business objectives and sales targets.
Analyze sales data market trends and customer insights to optimize product assortment and pricing strategies.
Plan product ranges and manage product lifecycle from launch to markdown.
Work closely with buyers to source and select products that meet customer demand and brand positioning.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate with supply chain and inventory teams to ensure optimal stock availability.
Collaborate with store managers and visual merchandising teams to ensure in-store displays are attractive and aligned with brand guidelines.
Forecast sales and prepare budgets for product categories.
Identify opportunities for promotions and markdowns to maximize revenue and minimize stock aging.
Build strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
Track competitor activity and recommend actions to maintain a competitive edge.
Prepare regular reports and presentations on merchandising performance for senior management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Business Marketing Retail Management or related field.
Proven experience (typically 5 years) in retail merchandising or category management preferably in insert relevant sector e.g. fashion FMCG electronics.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency with merchandising planning and inventory management systems.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Creative mindset with a good eye for product selection and trends.
