Roles and responsibilities

1. Massage Techniques

• Knowledge of various massage styles, such as Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy, and hot stone.
• Ability to adapt techniques based on clients' needs and preferences.

2. Skin Care Knowledge

• Expertise in facials, exfoliation, and body treatments.
• Understanding of different skin types and the products that best suit them.

3. Customer Service Skills

• Strong interpersonal skills to create a welcoming and comfortable environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, understand their needs, and provide recommendations.

4. Knowledge of Spa Treatments

• Expertise in a range of treatments such as body wraps, aromatherapy, reflexology, and hydrotherapy.
• Understanding of the benefits and contraindications for various spa therapies.

5. Attention to Detail

• Paying close attention to client needs, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and well-organized.

6. Anatomy and Physiology

• Understanding of human anatomy, especially muscles, bones, and the circulatory system.
• Knowing how to target and treat specific areas of tension or pain.

7. Time Management

• Ability to manage appointment schedules efficiently, ensuring treatments are completed on time.

8. Physical Endurance and Stamina

• The physical ability to perform long hours of treatments, often requiring strength and energy for tasks like massage.

9. Professionalism

• Maintaining confidentiality, dressing appropriately, and adhering to a professional code of ethics.

10. Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations

• Understanding hygiene, sanitation standards, and safety protocols to avoid infections and accidents.

11. Sales and Upselling

• Knowledge of products and services offered at the spa to recommend products or additional treatments that suit the client’s needs.

12. Emotional Intelligence

• Understanding how to manage emotions and remain calm in stressful or busy environments.

13. Cultural Sensitivity

• Awareness and respect for diverse client preferences, ensuring an inclusive and comfortable atmosphere.

Desired candidate profile

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
• Perform massage and treatments while maintaining the clients comfort at all times
• Provide aesthetics services such as facials and nails as required
• Ensure individualized guest service through acknowledging and responding to their needs and expectation
• Maintain a clean and neat work environment at all times, ensuring all equipment is in safe working order
• Actively participate in other areas of the Spa Operation, such as body treatments, product knowledge and retail sales
• Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way
• Follow departmental policies and procedures
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies
• Other duties as assigned
  

Qualifications

• Certification from an accredited school of Massage and Aesthetics required
• All professional licenses are to be current
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Highly responsible & reliable
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
