Job Description

About us:

Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC) is the economic development arm of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). DEDCs goals include enhancing Dubais economic competitiveness; implementing economic development plans; supporting diversification and sustainability of the emirates economy; attracting foreign investment and global talent in vital sectors; strengthening Dubais position as a global destination for investments and entrepreneurship in the digital economy; and establishing projects focused on advancing innovation artificial intelligence and technology.

DEDC is the steward for Dubai Economic Agenda D33 which aims to further consolidate Dubais position as one of the top three global cities.

Job Objective:

The Senior Manager is responsible for maintaining oversight on all Manufacturing sector projects being implemented to ensure there is an accurate view of the projects portfolio. This entails overseeing the development of project management methodologies and tools in line with leading and applicable practices supervising interdependencies of programs and projects resolving issues resource constraints and conflicts monitoring programs and projects progress managing risks identification and following up on corrective actions implementation to ensure effective completion of the programs and projects in line with the overall Economic Development D33 agenda and objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

Core Functional Responsibilities & Subject Matter Expertise

  • Establish and monitor the implementation of effective project management policies procedures tools and methods. This sets common practices for all projects including project management standards risk management and change control processes.
  • Ensure that all Manufacturing sector projects are supported with right project management resources.
  • Maintain project planning documentation (project charters plans etc.) in a central repository.
  • Conduct ongoing follow up and tracking of all active Manufacturing sector projects / initiatives to ensure execution in line with the defined timelines and budgets (portfolio level).
  • Provide support towards managing project risks e.g. delays budget over runs and others (and other risks / issues); provide SME inputs to support in defining remedial actions to rectify such risks and issues.
  • Develop periodic reports to report on the status of all active Manufacturing sector projects to the Head of PMO.
  • Update the master project plan based on live project data to ensure there is a holistic view of the status of the investment enablement and growth projects.
  • Direct efforts to enhance the efficiency of project tracking and reporting mechanisms by providing recommendations on tools and systems (digital and otherwise) that can be deployed support project management efforts.

Corporate Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to the development of the DEDCs strategy and drive overall performance through providing inputs on the sections strategy priorities and initiatives.
  • Take onus of the sections achievement against set OKRs/KPIs to ensure the Section performs in line with overall performance targets particularly against those reported to local and federal level authorities as they pertain to the key economic indicators of Dubai.

Financial Planning & Monitoring

  • Oversee the determination of the sections annual and longterm capital and operating budgetary requirements to ensure strategic and operational plans can be delivered.
  • Take accountability for the sections budgetary performance ensuring minimal divergences and that expenditures are optimized and directed towards value adding activities.

Advisory Support

  • Provide advisory services to the Head of PMO as needed.
  • Support the DEDC in establishing deep relations across its stakeholder ecosystem which includes creating synergies and collaboration within DET.
  • Contribute to and support on DEDC and DET wide corporate priorities and initiatives e.g. ESG related initiatives.

People Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and role model the core values of DET and DEDC in an aim to build a high performing and competent environment within the Corporation.
  • Foster and instil a culture which drives crossfunctional collaboration between teams in an aim to drive synergies and collaboration.
  • Build the next generation of leaders through mentoring and coaching in order to develop the capabilities of the team and DET as a whole; this includes nurturing and grooming potential successors in an aim to drive business continuity.
  • Drive the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives to ensure thorough participation of females people of determination within the workforce of the section.
