Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Job Summary : We are looking for a meticulous and experienced QA/QC Engineer to join our consulting engineering firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of construction projects with industry standards and client requirements. This role involves close collaboration with project teams, contractors, and clients to maintain high-quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement QA/QC plans for construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor quality and adherence to project requirements.
  • Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, and other project documentation for compliance with quality standards.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed QA/QC reports, including non-conformance reports, inspection reports, and test results.
  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams on quality control procedures and best practices.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss quality-related issues and provide updates on QA/QC activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a QA/QC Engineer in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction quality standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Proficiency in QA/QC software and tools.


Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) or relevant QA/QC credentials.
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Desired candidate profile

1. Technical Skills

  • Quality Management Systems (QMS): Familiarity with ISO standards like ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or others depending on the industry.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC): Understanding of methods to monitor and control production processes.
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): Ability to identify potential failure points and assess their risk.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Identifying the root causes of quality issues.
  • Inspection and Testing: Conducting various tests, like non-destructive testing (NDT), or visual inspections to ensure product quality.
  • Software Tools: Proficiency in software tools like SAP, Minitab, or other tools for statistical analysis and report generation.
  • Automated Testing/Tools: Knowledge of automated testing frameworks like Selenium or LoadRunner can be a plus, particularly in software QA roles.
  • Document Control: Handling documentation for processes, inspections, testing, and certifications.

2. Analytical Skills

  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify problems quickly and offer logical, systematic solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring products meet detailed specifications and quality criteria.
  • Data Analysis: Reviewing testing and inspection data, and identifying trends or abnormalities.

3. Communication Skills

  • Report Writing: Creating detailed inspection reports, quality audits, or test reports.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Working with other departments like production, design, and supply chain to resolve quality issues.
  • Customer Communication: Interacting with customers or stakeholders regarding quality concerns or product performance.

4. Regulatory Knowledge

  • Industry Standards: Knowledge of relevant industry regulations such as FDA (for medical devices), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), or other applicable standards depending on the industry.
  • Compliance Audits: Conducting internal or external audits to ensure products and processes comply with regulatory standards.

5. Project Management Skills

  • Time Management: Efficiently managing time for testing, reporting, and addressing issues without compromising quality.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and assessing risks that could impact the product quality and implementing mitigation plans.
